SHINIGAMI EYES PERMISSIONS Misa made the trade for shinigami eyes, which enable her to see the real name and lifespan of living humans, though she does not know how to read the lifespans. This works with videos as well as photos, as long as the majority of the face is not obscured— essentially, if the person is recognizable. If the person is dead, she sees nothing. If the person owns a Death Note, then she will only see their name. Please let me know if: 1) Your character is inhuman (but looks human), in which case she will see nothing. 2) Your character is taken post-death in their canon, in which case she will see nothing. 3) Your character has no real name/only has one name/we don't know their real name, in which case we should decide on something together. 4) Your character goes by a fake name, in which case she will see their true one if they interact. DEATH NOTE PERMISSIONS Misa is in possession of a Death Note, a black notebook used by shinigami to kill humans, thereby extending their own lifespans. Simply put, whoever has their real name written in the Death Note while the writer envisions their face will die. If only their name is written, they will die from a heart attack. Otherwise the target can be manipulated for up to 23 days before dying in whatever way is written, as long as it is feasible and does not cause anyone not written in the Notebook to die as a consequence. If an impossible death is written in, then the person will just die from a heart attack. Like the shinigami eyes, the Death Note will only work on humans. Misa must know your character's real name (which she can get from looking at them) and face for it to work. Obviously I won't have Misa kill anyone without the mun's consent, and for some of you your answer will probably be case-specific, but please leave a note if you know for sure that you don't want your character to be killed/manipulated via Notebook or are totally cool with it. His real name is John Doe and if she can see his remaining life span too, he uh... has three lifespans. He dies in 1995, 1999 and 2014. :D;; So it should be all messed up.

SPOILER ALERT, but Dave has died twice in his canon yet is still technically alive. Think of it as a video game: he's on his final life after losing two. I'm not sure how you would like that to affect the shinigami eyes and I'm totes willing to discuss it.

As for death by note, I'd like to plot that out in advance, though I'm not entirely against it.

kanda is human, by default. the thing is SPOILER he's currently in his second body, you could say. he died thirty years ago, which is twenty years before he was brought back to life by means of an experiment. he was ...dead... ten years before being used for scientific purposes. he's been dead several times ever since he got this 'second chance' as it is.

anyway, it's impossible for him to die and the name he was given is probably not even his real name. so, he's safe from all this death note/shinigami eyes business. :9

kagura is an amanto! which would be translated to alien/someone from space. she looks human though, but isn't. i don't know if you would consider this Inhuman, but it's fair to say she's also immune to this?

Nina has no name! At least, no real name. "Nina Fortner" was a name given to her by her foster parents. She also uses the name "Anna Liebert", albeit much less frequently.

It's actually a plot point in Monster that Nina and her brother (and several other characters) have no real names. Because Nina was born as part of an experiment, during which it was decided it was unnecessary to name her, she has no birth certificate and no real, legal name.

Her mother did think of a name for her but was never allowed to formally give it to her. (We never find out what the name is.) I'm open to resolving this however you want! I just thought I should let you know, since it could potentially be an issue.

I think the only thing you need to know about evilcanwait and gamma_effect is that Bruce tends not to give out his real name, so her calling him by it will startle him. It's not a big deal, though, and the rest of it is a-okay!

4) Yes! Raidou Kuzunoha XIV may be what he'd identify as but it's a title he inherited/earned. Birth name was Jouhei Kuzunoha.

...I don't ... actually see much reason it WOULDN'T work on him, considering some of what HAS worked in his canon. Ping me to plot if he gets on her bad side?

QUESTION: Claire Bennet has died like ... I dunno, about three times so far in canon and - barring decapitation or losing her ability - will never die. Would Misa's shinigami eyes still work on her? If they would, she's free to know everything.

And she can do whatever else you want to Claire! Her ability is free-game as well, if she would be able to see that kind of thing.

3) Ahaha. GOOD LUCK. The series completed without ever revealing Nezumi's real name so (so far as I can tell), so IDEK how we'd ever play that out. He's been named 'Nezumi' by his godparent, however, so we could possibly say that is his real name buuut it's not his birth name.
